Intro to Bouldering Class

BOULDERING BASICS

This course is designed for new climbers (16+) with little to no experience. It offers a safe and welcoming introduction to bouldering while teaching basic technique and movement with a focus on overall safety.

​

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the main areas of the facility

  • Describe basic bouldering etiquette

  • Demonstrate basic safety principle

  • Assess risk when selecting a boulder

  • Demonstrate basic body, hand and feet positioning

  • Complete some of the easier climbs in the Foundational (Orange tag) circuit climbs.

Foundational Technique

Foundational Technique

This program is for adult climbers (16+) who have completed our Bouldering Basics course or have climbed a few times before. They are comfortable completing some of the easier "Foundational" circuit (Orange tag) climbs.

Climbers will learn foundational movement and build skills to help them send progressively more difficult climbs over the duration of the program and beyond. 

​

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the value of proper warm up and cool down exercises

  • Demonstrate a variety of fundamental footwork techniques

  • Sequence boulders using basic route reading

  • Adjust body position according to climb style and wall steepness

  • Demonstrate dynamic movement 

  • Project easier Progressive (pink tag) circuit climbs.​​

Progressive
Intermediate Technique

This program is for adult climbers (16+) who have completed our Foundational Technique course or those who are climbing at a novice level. 

​

They are comfortable completing some of the easier "Progressive" circuit (Pink tag) climbs and are looking to break though the notorious (V3) plateau and start sending harder Progressive circuit (pink tags) and begin projecting easier Performance circuit (white tags).

 

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate improved footwork techniques including smearing, switches and stabs, heel and toe hooks

  • Learn to utilize momentum, dynos, and be introduced to coordination

  • Maintain tension and manage friction

  • Learn the fundamentals of bodyweight training, grip training, and board utilization

  • Project hard Progressive (pink tags) and easier Performance (white tag) climbs

Performance

Advanced Technique

This program is for adult climbers (16+) who have completed our Progressive (Intermediate) Technique course or those who are climbing at an intermediate level. 

They are comfortable completing some of the harder Progressive circuit (Pink tag) climbs and some of the easier Performance circuit (white tag) climbs. They are looking to begin projecting harder Performance circuit and MoonBoard climbs

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Develop a training plan to maintain and improve general fitness

  • Demonstrate advanced techniques including footwork, tension, coordination, body awareness, etc.

  • Learn to project MoonBoard and challenging Spray wall climbs

  • Read beta, visualize and project harder Performance circuit (white tag) climbs

  • Identify strengths and weaknesses and next steps to help progress towards goals

Beyond the technical skills, you’re also seeking a community, a group of like-minded climbers who share your passion, push you to grow, and make each session fun and fulfilling. Climbing is about more than reaching the top; it’s about the journey, camaraderie, and building lasting friendships along the way. 

 

Our Adult Training Team is the perfect solution. This group-based program is designed for climbers like you who want to improve their skills in a supportive and motivating environment. You’ll train alongside peers at a similar level, learning from experienced instructors and each other, and growing together as a team. It’s not just about getting stronger, it’s about finding a community that shares your passion and making climbing a sport you look forward to every week.
Join our Adult Training Team and take your climbing to the next level while connecting with a group of climbers who inspire and support you along the way.

 

 

 

What to Expect

  • 2-Hour Training Sessions: Every Friday from 7-9 PM, enjoy focused, in-depth training designed to enhance your climbing skills.

  • Gym Membership Included: Along with your training, receive a membership to The Core Climbing Gym, allowing you to drop by and climb anytime you like.

  • Small Group Classes: Train in a supportive environment with up to 12 participants per session, guided by an experienced coach.

  • Community: Become part of a welcoming and passionate climbing community, where you can share experiences, grow together, and build lasting friendships.

$180 for each 4-week group of sessions, Includes monthly EFT membership​
